F.A.Q
What is a quadricycle ?
Light quadricycles account for the bulk of the market. The maximum speed is limited by the manufacturer to 45 km/h. Power is limited to 4 kW (i.e. 5.5 horsepower) for diesel engines, and empty weight to 350 kg. Quadricycles are two-seaters. Heavy quadricycles are less widespread. They are more powerful than light vehicles (15 kW - 21 horsepower). Empty weight is limited to a maximum of 400 kg for the transport of passengers, and up to 4 people can be carried; speed is not limited by the manufacturer.

What can be transported in a light quadricycle ?
Weight that can be carried is limited to a maximum of 200 kg. This weight includes all accessories, options (spare wheel, floor mats, storage, etc), the passenger and the luggage.

Is it compulsory for the M.GO to have a registration number ?
A registration number is compulsory at the rear of the vehicle, and optional at the front, in both the light and heavy versions of the quadricycle.

Can a baby car seat be fitted in my M.GO ?
An approved baby car seat can be fitted on the front passenger seat, in both the 2-seater and 4-seater models, in the same way as for a traditional car. In the 4-seater model, it is preferable to fit it at the rear. From the age of 3, children can sit in the passenger seat provided an approved child booster seat is installed.

Do I have to clear a driving test to drive an M.GO ?

A light quadricyle (2-seater)
The answer varies depending on your date of birth :
- for those born before 1 January 1988, no test is required to drive a light quadricyle. However we advise some lessons with an experienced driver (family or friend) or some hours of tuition with a driving school.
- for those born after 1 January 1988, it is compulsory to have a BSR (Road Safety Certificate) for quadricycles. The BSR is a test made up of a theoretical part, through a college called the ASSR, and a practical part, conducted in your light quadricycle, which comprises 5 hours' driving with a driving school, and without any final test.
Beyond 45 km/h, the quadricycle is no longer considered to be in the light category, and becomes part of the heavy quadricycle category, which requires a driving licence.

Heavy quadricycle (4-seater)
To drive a heavy quadricycle, you must hold a B1 licence or the equivalent (A4, AT, B etc.), in accordance with the legislation prevailing in France.

Can disabled people drive the M.GO ?
There are companies specialised in the production of kits catering to various disabilities. These companies can equip the quadricycles with standard and specialised kits. Dealers can also equip vehicles with standard certified kits.

What is the maximum authorised speed ?
The maximum authorised speed is 45 km/h for a light quadricycle. There is no speed limit for heavy quadricycles.

Can we travel on all roads ?
Both light and heavy quadricycles can travel on all public roads except for motorways. Quadricycles are prohibited in some express lanes and fast lanes. This prohibition is indicated by the following board:
autoroute

Are there any 4-seater mini-cars ?
No, all mini-cars are 2-seater. 4-seater cars are heavy quadricycles. Any conversion of a 2-seater quadricycle into a 4-seater quadricycle is prohibited.
